Astrowave Simple Event Calendar

Astrowave Simple Event Calendar is a lightweight calendar for shops and facilities. No ACF required.

Features

• One shortcode: [astrowave_event_calendar]
• Closed weekdays: Mark weekly closed days
• Optional public holidays: Off by default (no network). When enabled:
  • Japan (JP) → holidays-jp (better coverage for substitute / “国民の休日”)
  • Other countries → Nager.Date
• Manual holidays: Always available — YYYY-MM-DD Name (overrides API on the same date)
• 3 event types: Normal / Closed / Special
• PC & mobile: Popup / bottom sheet

How to use

1. Activate the plugin
2. Add events (date, type, message, link)
3. Calendar Notes (Administrators): footnotes, closed weekdays, optional holidays + country, manual holidays
4. Place [astrowave_event_calendar] on a page

External services

This plugin can optionally connect to third-party holiday APIs. These requests are off by default. They run only when an administrator enables “public holidays” under Calendar Notes. Results are cached in WordPress transients. API base URLs are fixed in the plugin (users cannot enter arbitrary URLs). If an API fails, the calendar still works; manual holiday lines remain available.

• What: Public JSON of Japanese national holidays (including substitute holidays).
• When: Once per year of calendar data (cached); only if holidays API is ON and country is JP.
• Data sent: Year number in the request URL path only. No personal or site user data.

Recurring events, date ranges, admin color pickers, unlimited types. Kept Simple.
