Chatrico – AI Chat Bot & Live Chat

Chatrico adds an AI chat bot and live chat widget to your WordPress site. The bot answers visitors around the clock using your own content, captures leads, and hands the conversation to a person on your team when it needs to.

This plugin is a client for a hosted service. The chat bot itself runs on Chatrico’s servers, not on your site. You need a Chatrico.com account to use it, and a free plan is available. See the “External services” section below for exactly what data is sent and when.

What the plugin does

• Loads the Chatrico chat widget on your site once you save an Agent ID and switch it on.
• Lets you choose which of your AI agents answers on this site.
• Optionally hides the widget from logged-in administrators while you test.
• Shows your plan, this month’s usage totals and your agent list inside wp-admin, if you link your account.
• Links through to your inbox, tickets and dashboard on Chatrico.

Widget appearance (colour, position, size and theme) is set in Agent Settings on Chatrico and applied automatically, so you never have to re-paste embed code.

External services

This plugin connects to the Chatrico chat service, operated by Chatrico at https://chatrico.com. The plugin cannot work without it, because the AI chat bot, the conversation history and your account data all live on that service.

1. Account data in wp-admin

If you paste a Connection Key on the plugin’s Settings screen, the plugin sends that key to https://chatrico.com/api/plugin/me to read your account name and email, your plan, your usage totals and your list of AI agents.

• Data sent: your Connection Key.
• When: when you save the key, and at most once every five minutes while you are viewing the plugin’s own admin screens.
• This is optional. Skip it and the plugin still shows the widget.

2. Chat widget on the front end

If you tick “Show widget”, the plugin loads the widget script from https://chatrico.com/widget/embed.js on your public pages and passes it your Agent ID. From that point the script talks to https://chatrico.com/api directly.

• Data sent: your Agent ID, the messages a visitor types, anything a visitor enters into the chat such as a name or email address, and the technical request data any web request includes, for example IP address and user agent.
• When: on page views where the widget is enabled, and while a visitor is chatting.
• Nothing is sent while “Show widget” is off.
