GetFoxChat puts the GetFoxChat AI Operator (that you name as you like) and a live chat widget on your WordPress site. It reads your site’s pages, answers visitors’ questions from them, and when the answer is a button or link on the page, it points at it so the visitor can see where to click.
- Answers from your own pages. It learns your product from your site’s public pages and answers from what they say. When it does not know, it says so and offers a person.
- Shows visitors where to click. When the answer is a button, link or field on the page, it scrolls to it and highlights it with a short note.
- Hands over to you. Visitors can press Talk to a person, and you reply from your GetFoxChat inbox.
- Remembers returning visitors, so they do not have to start again (how long depends on your plan).
- Filters spam before it reaches your inbox.
- Your name and look. Give the operator your own name and avatar in your GetFoxChat dashboard, so it looks like part of your site. It is an AI and never claims to be a person; if a visitor asks, it says so.
What this plugin does in WordPress:
- Adds Settings > GetFoxChat with one Connect this site button (also shown on the Plugins screen until you connect). It opens GetFoxChat sign-up in a new tab with your site address filled in, and brings you back with the chat switched on. Nothing to copy.
- Loads the GetFoxChat widget script in the footer of your public pages, deferred, so it does not hold up your page. Nothing is loaded in wp-admin.
- Makes no requests of its own: nothing on activation, nothing in your admin area, no tracking.
Plans and prices: the first month is free. See https://getfoxchat.com/pricing for current plans.
External services
This plugin connects your site to GetFoxChat, a hosted chat service run by GetFoxChat (https://getfoxchat.com/). This is needed to show the chat widget; without a Site ID, nothing is loaded.
The plugin itself does not contact any service. Connect this site is a link you open yourself: it sends your site address and the address of this settings page (with a one-time code) to https://getfoxchat.com/register in your browser.
On your public pages only, when a Site ID is saved, it adds a script tag so each visitor’s browser loads:
- https://getfoxchat.com/widget.js (the chat widget) and the operator’s avatar image from getfoxchat.com.
The widget then sends data from the visitor’s browser to the GetFoxChat service API (hosted at vidkocepbgjlintvruvq.supabase.co):
- On every page load: your Site ID, a random visitor ID the widget stores in the visitor’s browser (localStorage), the page URL and title, the time the page was opened and the time spent on it; plus the labels of the page’s buttons, links and form fields (labels only, email addresses masked) so the operator can point visitors to them. If you set up visitor goals, the name of a matched goal is sent once per visit. Nothing typed into your site’s own forms is read or sent.
- When a visitor chats: their messages; the page URL and title, the page’s visible text and headings; the label, type and filled-or-empty state of the page’s form fields so the operator can help with a form, never the values typed into them (password, hidden, email, phone and file fields, and fields marked for personal data such as name, address, birthday or card details, are skipped entirely); simple typing and mouse-movement counts used to filter spam; and any email address or file the visitor chooses to give or upload in the chat. If the visitor rates the chat, the rating is sent too.
