From September 27, 2026, Directive (EU) 2024/825 (the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive, “EmpCo”) bans generic environmental claims on product pages unless they are substantiated with recognized excellent environmental performance. That covers wording like “eco-friendly”, “environmentally friendly”, “green”, “climate neutral”, “carbon neutral”, offset-based neutrality claims, and self-made eco labels without independent certification. Fines can reach 4% of turnover, enforced by national consumer authorities — in Poland, UOKiK has already fined product-page greenwashing.
This plugin scans your store content and flags risky wording so you can review, substantiate, or rephrase it before regulators or competitors do.
