Hyperthings Event Importer for Meetup imports Meetup events into WordPress as public event posts.

The WordPress.org version imports public future and past events from one configured public Meetup group.

The plugin is designed for organizers who want to publish Meetup events on their own WordPress site without exposing unnecessary personal data. It imports event metadata, creates event pages with schema.org Event structured data, and provides a shortcode for listing events.

Need more import workflows? HT Event Importer Pro is available separately for teams that need scheduled imports, authenticated session imports, direct event URL imports, multisite workflows, or advanced schema controls.

  • Test and resolve the configured group before importing.

External services

Meetup

This plugin connects to Meetup to fetch event and group pages. This is required to import event data into WordPress.

When an administrator tests a group or imports group events, the plugin sends the requested Meetup group or event URL to Meetup.

OpenStreetMap

This plugin may embed OpenStreetMap maps on imported event pages when latitude and longitude are available. This is used to show event locations.

When a visitor views an imported event page with a coordinate-based map enabled, the visitor’s browser requests map embed content from OpenStreetMap. The map URL includes the event coordinates or approximate rounded coordinates, depending on the plugin location privacy setting.

Google Maps

This plugin may embed Google Maps when coordinates are unavailable but a venue, address, or city is available. This is used as a fallback map display for imported event locations.

When a visitor views an imported event page that uses this fallback, the visitor’s browser requests an embedded map from Google Maps. The map request includes the configured event venue, address, or city.
