Paxmod Content Moderation

Paxmod Content Moderation checks every new comment against your Paxmod project’s policy in real time and routes flagged comments to review, spam, or trash based on your settings.

It runs alongside Akismet: Akismet handles spam, Paxmod handles toxicity, harassment, sexual content, self-harm, PII, and any custom policy you configure in the Paxmod console.

Features

• Real-time moderation of new comments via the Paxmod API.
• Choose what happens to flagged comments: hold for review (default), mark as spam, or move to trash.
• Skips previously-approved (“trusted”) commenters to save API calls.
• Shows the flag reason and category in the WordPress comments list.
• Fails open: if Paxmod is unreachable, comments follow WordPress’s normal rules, so moderation never breaks your site.

You control the categories, thresholds, and custom policy in the Paxmod console; the plugin simply applies them.

External services

This plugin sends comment content to the Paxmod API (https://www.paxmod.com) for moderation. For each new comment being moderated, the comment text, the commenter’s email (as an identifier), and the post ID are sent to https://www.paxmod.com/api/v1/text using the API key you provide. This happens only when moderation is enabled and a valid API key is set.
