Translation Assistant helps site administrators translate WordPress posts from one WPML language to another using the OpenAI API.
The plugin is designed for sites that already use WPML Multilingual CMS. You choose a source language, a target language, and the publication status of the translated post. Translation Assistant sends the content to OpenAI for translation, creates the translated WordPress post, and associates it with the original post in WPML.
The WordPress.org edition supports manual bulk translation using the local translation queue. A separate Premium add-on can provide additional functionality such as scheduled automations. Premium code is not included in this WordPress.org plugin.
Translation Assistant uses the OpenAI API to translate content.
When you start a translation, content from the selected WordPress post is sent to OpenAI so that OpenAI can return translated text. Depending on the content of your post, this may include the post title, body content, excerpt, and other text that Translation Assistant needs to translate.
The request is made only after the site administrator configures an OpenAI API key and starts or configures translation through the plugin.
This service is provided by OpenAI and is subject to OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy:
Translation Assistant also integrates with WPML Multilingual CMS installed on the same WordPress site. WPML is a separate product and is not bundled with this plugin.
Before starting a translation, Translation Assistant checks the WPML state of the selected article. If a translation already exists, or if WPML Translation Management is already processing that language, Translation Assistant can stop the operation to help avoid duplicate translations.
