ZebChat – Live Chat For Website

ZebChat puts a live chat widget on your WordPress site so your team can answer visitors in real time, from the web dashboard or the Android and iOS apps.

In WordPress

• Sign in to an existing ZebChat account, or create one (you and your first organization).
• Create a website for this WordPress hostname, or choose one you already have.
• Turn the chat widget on or off. While it is on, WordPress adds the install code for you.

In the ZebChat dashboard

The inbox, visitor map, widget colours, team, reports and billing stay on app.zebchat.com. This plugin links there. It does not copy those screens into WordPress.

Mobile apps

Answer chats on your phone. The apps are included with every ZebChat account.

The site key in the install code is public. Passwords and session tokens are sent only to the ZebChat API and are stored in WordPress options, never printed on the site.

External services

This plugin connects to ZebChat (https://www.zebchat.com/), a live chat service by Tech Avenue Labs. The plugin needs it to work: the chat, the inbox and the visitor data live in ZebChat.

ZebChat API (https://api.zebchat.com/), called from your server, only when an administrator uses the ZebChat settings screen:

• Creating an account sends the name, email address, password and organization name you enter.
• Signing in sends your email address and password (and the two-factor code, if your account uses one). ZebChat returns a session that is stored in this site’s options.
• Loading and saving the settings reads your organizations and websites; adding this site sends its name and hostname.

ZebChat chat widget, loaded in your visitors’ browsers only while the chat is turned on. It sends ZebChat the page address and title, browser and device type, approximate location from the IP address, and the messages, files and contact details visitors choose to send. Cookie and consent options are set per website in the ZebChat dashboard.
